Honors Program Development Grants

Deadline for Winter and Spring: 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30th.

The Honors Program awards a small number of Development Grants for students in the Program.  The purpose of these grants is to help students take advantage of opportunities for personal, intellectual, and academic growth, but which often provide little or no support, or have costs associated with participation. Internships, study abroad programs, and service work are examples of such opportunities.  Awards will be approximately $500.

Applications will be evaluated according to how well a program enriches a student’s course of study. For study abroad opportunities, priority will be given to students traveling abroad for the first time.  The review committee will also consider the length of the study abroad, internship, or service opportunity.

Students applying for a Development Grant to support an internship opportunity may apply even if they are still waiting to hear on their final internship placement.  Award checks will be held until the recipient confirms their internship placement.

Students applying for a Development Grant must submit two faculty letters of recommendation in support of their application.  It is strongly recommended that one of these letters come from a faculty member in the student's field of study.

Students must be members of the University Honors Program and enrolled full‑time at KU.  A committee will evaluate applications; announcement of awards will be made in early April.
