Eligibility & Admission

The Honors Program is committed to enhancing the educational experience of talented, highly motivated students.  We believe that a student’s potential for success at KU cannot be measured by numbers alone.  However, the Honors Program at KU has established minimum requirements to apply.  First, a student must score a minimum ACT Composite Score of  30 or above or the equivalent SAT Composite 1320-1350 combined Math and Verbal and have an unweighted high school GPA  of 3.75.

Students who meet these minimum criteria for applying, must also submit an essay, and an activities statement.   Additionally, the committee will score the strength of the high school curriculum.  The test scores, gpa, essay, activities statement, and the strength of the high school curriculum will be given careful consideration during the review process.  Meeting the minimum standardized test score criteria to apply is only a guarantee that the application will be thoroughly reviewed for possible admission to the program, not a guarantee that the student applicant will be admitted.
