Mission: Recruitment is most effective when it includes a variety of voices, including students. Honors Ambassadors will develop teamwork, communication, and leadership skills as they meet with families and plan events to enhance the recruitment process.
Membership: Students who have completed at least one year in the University Honors Program, selected through the process detailed below.
Purpose:
To provide a positive student contact for prospective students and their families as they consider the Honors Program at the University of Kansas. Such contact would occur through on-campus recruitment events, an annual spring reception for prospective students and families held in Nunemaker Center, and through the maintenance of an Honors Ambassadors e-mail account. Honors Ambassadors would also assist Honors and Mount Oread Scholars students as they transition into the University. Ambassadors will assist with this process by contributing to a range of first-year experience programs.
Selection:
Students with at least one year experience in the Honors Program can fill out an application in order to be considered for an Honors Ambassador position. Well-qualified applicants will be interviewed by a committee.

Duties of Honors Ambassadors:

  • Attend one meeting each month with the program coordinator.
  • Assist with the development of programs for current KU honors students.
  • Assist with the planning of a spring reception in Nunemaker Center for prospective students and families. Honors Ambassadors will also be expected to participate on the day of the reception by being available to answer questions from students and parents.
  • Participate in other receptions held in Nunemaker Center, including welcome sessions for current KU student admitted to the program and events associated with Family Weekend.
  • Participate in a minimum of two on-campus recruitment events per semester.
